Our Pet-Friendly Rooms

At Thackray House, we are delighted to welcome both you and your four-legged companions. As a dog-friendly hotel, we understand that a family getaway simply isn’t complete without your furry friend by your side. Set in the heart of Scotland’s breathtaking landscape, our hotel offers the perfect balance of luxury and adventure. With an abundance of outdoor experiences on our doorstep, Scotland is an ideal destination for dogs and their owners alike. We go the extra mile to ensure your stay is as comfortable and indulgent as it is memorable—for every member of your family, paws included. We kindly ask you to refer to our dog policy below.

Our Dog Policy

While we’re always happy to have you and your dog visit us, there are just a few rules that we ask you to follow to make sure the rest of our guests can enjoy their luxury experience, including:

  • Please keep your pooch within your bedroom. Unfortunately for the safety and enjoyment of other guests, we cannot currently have dogs in the other public rooms or areas of our hotel.

  • Please ensure they are kept in a travel crate if you leave them alone.

  • Please make sure they do not constantly bark or make excessive noise.

  • Please keep them off the hotel furniture.

  • Please always keep your pup on a lead when near the hotel and having a close eye on them while exploring the estate, there may be other guests in cars as well as lots of local wildlife.

  • Please dispose of any waste correctly in the provided bins.

  • Please clean your dog after muddy walks before coming back to your hotel room. We can provide some doggy towels on request.

Please let us know ahead of time that your dog will be joining you when making your reservation. A charge of £20 per dog, per night applies. Kindly note that dogs must be supervised and kept under control at all times, and any damage to property or disruption to other guests will be charged.
